FAQs

Working with us

What is outsourced accounting for UK practices?
Outsourced accounting is when your accountancy practice hands compliance work — bookkeeping, accounts preparation, VAT, payroll and tax — to a trusted external team who complete it for you. Remote Accountant gives UK firms extra qualified capacity without the cost and risk of hiring.
What does a remote accountant do?
A remote accountant works off-site as an extension of your team, completing the same accounting and tax jobs an in-house member would — in your software, to your standards. You keep the client relationship and review; we handle the production work remotely.
How does outsourcing accounting work step by step?
After a short discovery call we set up secure access to your systems, agree a working model, then start with a trial job. You send work, our remote accountants complete it to your templates, a qualified reviewer checks it, and it comes back to you review-ready to sign off and bill.
How much does it cost to outsource accounting work?
Pricing is tailored to your practice and the working model you choose — job-based, hourly, or a dedicated full-time resource. We agree a price with you after a short discovery call, with no fixed rate cards. Most UK practices save around 50% versus hiring in-house.
Is outsourcing accounting cheaper than hiring an accountant?
Yes — outsourcing removes recruitment, salary, pension, software, training and office costs. Practices typically cut the cost of getting compliance work done by around half, and only pay for the capacity they actually use.
Are your accountants qualified and UK-trained?
Yes. Our team is trained in UK GAAP, FRS 105 and FRS 102, and works day-to-day with HMRC and Companies House requirements. Every outsourced job is checked by a qualified reviewer before it reaches you.
Which accounting software do you work in?
We work inside the tools you already use — Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, IRIS, TaxCalc, CCH, VT Transaction+, BrightPay and more. There is nothing new for you or your clients to learn.
Is my client data secure and GDPR compliant?
Yes — we operate to ISO 27001 standards with encrypted access, controlled environments, signed NDAs and full GDPR-compliant handling. Client data is never downloaded to personal devices.
Do you work as part of our team?
Yes — we work as an extension of your practice, in your software and to your standards, with a named manager as your point of contact. You stay in control of every client relationship.
How do we send you work?
You upload jobs, documents and records to your secure online dashboard, or send them however suits you. Your dedicated manager takes it from there and keeps you updated through the system.
How quickly can we get started with outsourcing?
Most practices are live within 48 hours of the discovery call. We set up secure access, NDAs and your named contact, and can begin with a small trial job to prove the fit before you scale up.
Can you handle self-assessment and year-end overflow?
Yes — overflow is one of the most popular reasons practices use us. Send your self-assessment (SA100) and year-end accounts overflow during busy periods and we turn work around fast, so your team never drowns in the January rush.
Do you offer remote bookkeeping services?
Yes. We provide daily, weekly or monthly remote bookkeeping and reconciliations in Xero, QuickBooks and Sage, keeping every client ledger accurate, up to date and audit-clean.
Can you outsource payroll and VAT returns?
Absolutely. We run end-to-end payroll (RTI, auto-enrolment, CIS) and prepare MTD-compliant VAT returns, plus corporation tax (CT600) and personal tax — all reviewed and ready for your sign-off.
What working models do you offer?
Three: job-based fixed fees for overflow, hourly pay-as-you-go for flexibility, and a dedicated full-time remote resource for ongoing volume. You can mix and switch models at any time with no penalty.
Can I hire a dedicated remote accountant full-time?
Yes. Our Full Resource model gives you a dedicated, qualified accountant working exclusively for your practice — managed, trained, supervised and covered by us. It is like hiring in-house, without the overhead or risk, at a price tailored to your needs.
How do you ensure quality on outsourced work?
Every account is prepared to your checklists and templates, then independently reviewed by a qualified reviewer before it returns to you. A named manager owns each relationship, and our rework rate sits below half a percent.
How will we communicate day to day?
You get a named point of contact and a shared channel (email, portal or chat) for tasks and updates. We work to your turnaround expectations and can align to your UK working hours.
Can I scale the outsourced team up or down?
Yes. Add hours or jobs during peaks and scale back in quieter months. As your fee income grows you can move from ad-hoc overflow to a dedicated resource, or build a full remote team.
Do I have to sign a long contract?
No. There is no lock-in on job-based or hourly work, and dedicated resources run on a simple 30-day rolling basis. Start with a trial job and scale only when you are confident.
